About the Founder
Our Executive Director, Shantell Fillmore, is well qualified for her position with a wealth of professional experience as well as a broad education. She received her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Phoenix. Prior to forming Unity Housing for Women and Children, her experience includes working with individuals with special needs, disabilities, substance abuse issues, the homeless, and victims of domestic violence.
Based on her passion for helping people, Shantell Fillmore decided to create a nonprofit organization for women and their children, creating a vessel for real change, and providing a second chance in life. With her experience, there is no doubt that this organization will be productive in providing women and their children the necessary tools to become positive, contributing members of society.
Our Vision
Unity Housing for Women and Children strives to service many women and their children within our community with the resources we provide – every individual is important to our organization. We are here to serve and uplift everyone that comes through our doors; we do not discriminate against any individual. Unity’s drive is to provide services that are concentrated on serving those less fortunate or needing a new vision on life. Addressing the greatest needs of our community, we strive to assist all women and their children to lead a more fulfilling life.
Unity Housing for Women and Children is committed to serving our community with compassion, empathy, trust, honesty, and loyalty, while acknowledging the diversity in unity. Unity is key to reuniting families, and bringing awareness to change the lives of domestic violence survivors, as well as those incarcerated and who have fallen on hard times.
